The first time you saw a website, you had to build your own. Your passion for emerging technologies, design trends and usability advancements has driven you to create a multitude of powerful web sites that bring out the very best of what a browser is capable of. You code for a living. And you code to relax. You code for fun. And, well…you just love coding!
You have a solid foundation with PHP, built a house with HTML4/5 and CSS, and wrapped it all in jQuery. You love working independently; autonomy fits you like a glove. After all, it’s not about the job…it’s about the website. However, the possibility of working on a team excites you – joining others to accomplish a goal. You are detail oriented by nature, goal-driven by heart, and you can’t wait another minute to show off the latest code accomplishment you just figured out. Oh, and it’s a big plus if your twitter handle is @jqueryrocks, @phpmysql or @iloveagoodcms.
Your Coding Rocks. Here’s Why.
- Your PHP skills are solid and centered around object-oriented development.
- You can manage a MySQL database administration. No need to be a pro db admin. But SQL statements? Yeah.
- You dig HTML / CSS including CSS-based layouts. Tables annoy you. Unless you are displaying tabular data. Even then…it still ticks you off a bit.
- It’s all about jQuery. John Resig must be your hero. No, really.
- Photoshop? Yeah, you do that. Just enough to move a design from a PSD to the web.
- Content Management Systems make the world go round. We use Concrete5 – you’ll love it. But experience in Wordpress, Joomla, Expression Engine or even (gulp) Drupal is valuable too!
- Nobody likes cross-browser debugging, but if a site isn’t cross-browser compatible, what’s the point?
What You Want To Learn
- Ecommerce development. From scratch. It’s hard. But cool. And helpful.
- Mobile web. It’s coming. Quickly.
